Publish a website and roll it back

Publish your draft in one click, see every deployment, and go back to any earlier one instantly.

Your website has a draft (what you edit) and a live version (what visitors see). Publishing turns the draft into a new deployment.

Publish

  1. Open the website and choose Publish.
  2. Weesify checks the draft first: it needs at least one file and a homepage. Warnings, such as a broken link, don't stop you.
  3. Add a short note if you like, for example "New menu". Choose Publish.
  4. The new version goes live all at once. If anything goes wrong while publishing, the previous version simply stays live.

Your website's address

A published website lives at weesify.com/ followed by its address, for example weesify.com/noor-studio/. Pages, short links and websites share these addresses, so each one belongs to one thing only. Change it in the website's Settings: the old address keeps sending visitors to the new one. Links starting with "/" in your pages and stylesheets are pointed inside your website automatically; addresses your scripts build while the page runs aren't, so use relative links there (css/site.css rather than /css/site.css).

For speed, styles, scripts, images, fonts, audio and video are served straight by the web server with long caching.

Roll back

  1. Open Publishing. Every deployment is listed with who published it and when.
  2. Choose Roll back next to the one you want. It's live again within seconds.

Versions and snapshots

  • Versions keeps snapshots of your draft: automatic ones before every change, and named ones you make.
  • Compare any version with your draft, restore it, or copy a single file back.

When publishing needs approval

If Publishing needs approval is on, only owners and admins can publish, unless your client approved exactly what's in the draft. See Client review and approval.
