Content automation rules

Make small rules such as "when a post is approved, add it to my weekday queue".

2 min read · Updated 30 October 2026

Each rule watches for one thing and does one thing. It acts once per post or idea, within about a minute, and every run is logged.

Steps

  1. Open Content › Automations and choose Make your first rule (or New rule).
  2. Enter a Name, for example "Queue approved posts".
  3. Under When, choose what to watch for, such as a post being approved or an idea being tagged.
  4. If the trigger needs it, fill in the extra detail: a Tag, or Idea title starts with.
  5. Under Then, choose what to do: add the post to a Queue, tell a Team member, or add a Tag to add.
  6. Make sure On is switched on, then choose Save rule.

Examples

  • When a post is approved, add it to the weekday queue.
  • When an idea is tagged "urgent", tell your editor.
  • When an idea's title starts with "Khutbah", tag it so it is easy to find.

Check what happened

Recent runs lists each run as Done, Failed, Skipped or Running. If a rule did nothing, look here first.

Tips

  • Rules act on activity from the moment they are created. They do not go back over old posts.
  • Turn a rule off with Turn off instead of deleting it if you might want it again. Deleting removes its log.
