Discounts help you reward your audience or run a launch. You can create a code buyers type at checkout, or an automatic sale that applies to everyone. Only one discount applies per order: a code the buyer types, otherwise your best running sale.
Steps
- Open Store › Discounts and select New discount.
- Choose the kind:
- Code: buyers type it at checkout. Enter it under What buyers type, or use Suggest.
- Automatic sale: applies by itself. Give it a Name that's shown on your products, like "Launch week".
- Choose Percent off or Fixed amount, and enter the amount. A fixed amount needs a Currency.
- Under Applies to, choose Everything or Chosen products, then tick the products.
- Optionally set a Minimum spend, a Starts and Ends date, a Total uses limit and Uses per customer. Leave a limit empty for no limit.
- Select Save.
Manage discounts
Each discount shows whether it's Running, Scheduled, Ended or Used up. Use Switch off to pause one, Edit to change it, or Copy code to share it. The page also shows orders with a discount, the amount given away and the revenue from them.
Tips
- A percentage with no minimum spend works in any currency. A fixed amount or a minimum spend only applies to products in that currency.
- Schedule a weekend sale in advance with Starts and Ends. Times use your workspace time zone.
- Set Uses per customer to 1 for welcome codes, so each buyer can use it once by email address.
- Discount codes and sales tax don't apply to donations.
Troubleshooting
- A code doesn't work at checkout: check it's switched on, hasn't ended or been used up, applies to that product, and matches the product's currency if it's a fixed amount.
- The buyer already used it: the per-customer limit counts by email address.
- A sale isn't showing: check its Starts date and that a code isn't also being applied.
- Deleting a discount doesn't change past orders. They keep their prices.
